To assist residents to clear fuel loads safely the following special arrangements for disposal of greenwaste apply during Bushfire Action Week-
1. Disposal of greenwaste only on Sunday October 18th will be free of charge at Council transfer stations
2. Transfer station/landfill operation hours for Sunday October 18th will be:
Stawell-Lavette Rd transfer station 1pm-6pm
Hard Hills landfill, St. Arnaud 12pm-5pm
Halls Gap transfer station 8am-5pm
Great Western transfer station 1pm-4pm
Glenorchy transfer station 12pm-5pm
3. In Halls Gap, assistance with the collection of greenwaste can be obtained for Sunday October 18th. Registration for assistance can be made at the Halls Gap Post Office but must be made before 5pm on Friday October 16th.
4. Permits for fuel reduction burning may be issued in townships from October 11th-18th subject to conditions which must be met. Application forms and standard permit conditions are available from Council’s website or customer service centres.
5. Council’s Local Law allows fuel reduction burning in Halls Gap without a permit during the last 14 days of October (including October 18th), however residents planning to burn off on Halls Gap Clean Up Day are required to register their intention to burn at the Halls Gap Post Office prior to 5pm on Friday October 16th.
