Blockbuster film Charlie & Boots will have a special pre-release screening in Stawell on Tuesday September 1st. The movie will screen in theatres nationwide from September 3rd.
The fabulous Grampians provide some of the scenic highlights of the trip in this funny and heartfelt movie with wonderful Australian characters.
Paul Hogan plays Charlie McFarland and Shane Jacobson (Kenny) plays his estranged son, Boots. After a family tragedy Charlie and Boots try to put their differences aside and head off on the road trip of a lifetime from the Southern Ocean to Cape York.
Northern Grampians Shire Council provided logistical support to cast and crew whilst they were filming in the area with Halls Gap adventure tour operators acting as guides.
Mayor Kevin Erwin says Stawell is very fortunate to have the film come to town before its general release.
“This is going to be a very exciting event for Stawell. It is not going to be a “by invitation only” event because this movie is for everybody.”
“Our Entertainment Centre is a big venue but we expect tickets for the event will sell out quickly.”
“The first day of Spring is a perfect time to take a break, pack the place out, have a laugh, and really make a night out of it”, Mayor Erwin said.
Stawell Performing Arts Company will host the evening as a fundraiser for their upcoming production The Pirate Queen.
Tickets are a bargain at just $10 and are available now from the Stawell Visitor Information Centre. For more information call 5358 2314.
