Helping travellers in Stawell (12-Aug-2009)

23 trailblazing signs will be erected along the Western Highway and throughout Stawell to direct tourists to features and facilities in the town.

Cr. Andrea Cooper said there had been a need for signs such as these in the town for some time and it would be good to see the project underway.

“As a highway town, there is certainly a need for some directional signage so that people travelling along the road are made aware that Stawell is not just what appears on the highway”.

“We’re hoping that this project will help people to discover everything we have to offer in Stawell. It may also increase accommodation stopovers for people travelling through”, Cr. Cooper said.

Works have now begun on the project and should be completed this month.
