The Stawell SnowFest has been hailed a huge success by the Northern Grampians Shire Council.
Mayor Kevin Erwin said SnowFest, held from July 24-26, was a wonderful event for the entire town which attracted visitors from far and wide.
“StawellBiz must be congratulated on the success of this innovative event. It was very well received by our entire community and provided a unique opportunity for our residents, visitors and businesses to shake off the winter blues and just enjoy and relax”.
“The main street traders were very receptive of the idea and that is fantastic. It’s great to see our businesses embracing the initiatives of StawellBiz and I’m confident that there will be many more equally spectacular events to come”, Mayor Erwin said.
The Lights and Sirens Ball, held on Saturday night at the Stawell Entertainment Centre as part of SnowFest, raised over $15,000 for the local Country Fire Authority branch and the Ambulance Auxiliary.
The event was attended by the Chief Police Commissioner of Victoria, Simon Overland and his wife Barbara, who thoroughly enjoyed the evening and thanked the organising committee for inviting them to attend.
Mayor Erwin said it was exciting to see such a turn out to the event and the generosity of those in attendance.
“The Ball was sold out which was a great achievement for the organising committee. Those who attended were very generous throughout the charity auction and thanks must go to all who came along for helping us to raise this significant amount of money”.
“Thanks also go to our major sponsors ACE Radio and Regional Development Victoria for making the event possible”.
Following this resounding success, Northern Grampians Shire Council is now encouraging StawellBiz to enter SnowFest in the Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Business Achievement Awards Outstanding Community Event/Festival category.
