The Northern Grampians Shire Council has made live an Online Mapping Service which will provide a new gateway into Council’s publicly available databases.
The new service works on a similar principle to Google Earth but with the added benefit of more detailed and comprehensive information specific to the Northern Grampians Shire.
Cr. Ray Hewitt said the service would provide a practical and easy way for residents, both current and potential, as well as business and property owners to obtain information about their property.
“People will now be able to get all the information they need in regards to their property quickly and easily via the Northern Grampians Shire website”.
“There are certainly no issues with anonymity or privacy as landowner details are not available to the user. It’s just a new and practical way of providing important information to our residents”, Cr. Hewitt said.
Businesses, farmers, real estate agents, developers and the general public will all benefit from the many applications available through the program.
The service can be used to ascertain the planning zones and overlays of a property, find out when garbage collections are, gather information for building and planning permits and to measure properties for fencing and fertilizing purposes.
There are various ways of looking up information including the ability to zoom in via recently obtained aerial photography. The program boasts precise detail and high resolution.
Through community feedback further enhancements and improvements to the service will be considered and implemented where possible.
An official launch for the program will be held on Thursday July 16th at the Stawell Entertainment Centre. All are welcome to come and hear about this exciting new initiative and how it can be used.
The new service can be accessed by going to Council’s website www.ngshire.vic.gov.au and clicking on Northern Grampians Online Mapping, found in the listing of ‘Our Council’ > ‘Maps and Locations’.
