The Stawell Leisure Complex has a new-look team of swimming teachers heading up a range of classes to suit everyone.
Northern Grampians Shire Council Leisure and Recreation Coordinator, Marc Brilliant, said the team of swimming teachers will ensure a program is available for all swimming levels and abilities.
“We start with water familiarisation for children aged six months to five years. Our Swim and Survive program is a ‘learn to swim’ class for ages four and up. Then we also have the Junior Lifeguard Club which is for children who are looking for a bit of an extra challenge. It includes lifesaving and swimming skills and stroke technique”.
“Private swimming lessons are also available as are lessons for adults”, Marc said.
The Leisure Complex now has a dedicated team of five AUSTSWIM qualified swimming teachers to run these great classes.
Marc heads up the team with eight years experience in swimming teaching. A professional, approachable and personable teacher, Marc takes care of Swim and Survive classes and teaching people with disabilities on Monday nights.
Peter Boehm has seven years experience in the pool and joins the team on Saturday mornings to teach Swim and Survive, people with disabilities and competitive stroke technique. Peter has a great ability to get students moving independently in the water in a short amount of time.
Tuesday and Thursday nights and Wednesday mornings see Jacqui Burningham jump in the water for Swim and Survive and water familiarisation. Jacqui has been teaching infant and child lessons for three years now and develops a great rapport with those she teaches.
Jess Reading takes the Friday night Swim and Survive class. She has been teaching for twelve months now and is a great communicator who is particularly good with kids.
Recently qualified Jacob Seeary is the newest addition to the swim team and takes the Swim and Survive class on a Wednesday night. Jacob is an energetic teacher with a natural teaching ability and fantastic teaching technique.
