Business Assistance Scheme

The Northern Grampians Shire Council Business Assistance Scheme was established in 2008 to provide financial and in-kind assistance to businesses who have plans to grow or establish in the Northern Grampians.

In the 2016/17 financial year, Council granted more than $50,000 in financial assistance to the Northern Grampians Shire business community in addition to providing one-on-one in-kind assistance. 

The Business Assistance Scheme aims to:

  • Attract and assist new business to establish in the Northern Grampians Shire;

  • Encourage and support existing business to undertake initiatives to expand, diversify and ensure sustainability;

  • Facilitate collaboration between businesses and Council to achieve economic growth objectives in the Northern Grampians Shire;

  • Facilitate collaboration between businesses and Council to capitalise on opportunities and address identified challenges specific to industry sectors and regionally in the Northern Grampians Shire.


Applicants must:

  • Have participated in a pre-application interview with a member of the Economic Development unit who will seek to establish how the scheme can best support the business;

  • Have a registered ABN (Australian Business Number);

  • Be operating within, or for new businesses, plan to establish in the Northern Grampians Shire in the next 12 months;

  • Complete a Business Assistance Scheme application form;

  • Not have any outstanding debt with Council or be in breach of any statutory requirements.

Grant Value

Assistance provided is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
